Corpus Nature School Expansion

Hey! My name is Jonathan Beaty. My wife, Lauren and I started Corpus Nature School here in South Texas in January of this year. It's been an amazing ride so far and the children enrolled are absolutely thriving in an outdoor class setting, expanding their knowledge through exploring the Coastal Bend and becoming familiar with our local ecosystem. More so than that, the children have shown tremendous growth in their confidence, social skills, and their desire for adventure. Research has shown that children who are immersed in nature, explore, and play outdoors are overall healthier and more well rounded than those who don't. Even a few hours a week with fulfilling experiences and great mentors can shape a child's life and spark a flame that may have laid dormant for decades, even a lifetime, which is what Corpus Nature School strives to provide each class.

Why we are seeking funding:

The Coastal Bend features some amazing outdoor locations filled with an abundance of wildlife and diverse vegetation, providing unlimited opportunities for exploration and education for our program. With that being said we are confident in our program and feel that a nature based program like ours is needed and will thrive in the Coastal Bend area with the right resources. This is why we would like to take the opportunity to expand our program and extend the services we are able to offer by acquiring our very own piece of land to build and grow on alongside the build of our very own schoolhouse.

We are currently seeking funding to re-invest into our program and the local community to be able to offer a wider range of classes both indoors and outdoors. We currently run our nature school classes at beautiful parks and beaches within our area but we are limited as to what we can offer without having a true headquarters property for Corpus Nature School.

We have stumbled upon a beautiful property that is waiting to be explored, abundant with beautiful plants and trees, surrounded by wetlands and world class birding. We could not have dreamt up a better spot to build our nature school headquarters. The property will provide children a wonderful outdoor educational experience to build their skills in wilderness survival, bird and plant identification, foraging, fishing, camping, fire making, navigation, and much more.

In addition we have exciting plans to build an official school house to facilitate our alternative formal education program. Our nature school house eduction program will be for children ages 4-7 with the idea to expand in the future. This program can be used as a homeschool enrichment program to families already homeschooling, or can be used as a tool for families who want to homeschool but cannot provide a homeschool experience themselves.
